"When only The Best"

Welcome to my collection of wine paintings : "From Palate to Palette" featuring "When only the Best"

One of my loves of painting wine is how I can use the curved surfaces which are both reflective and transparent. That makesfun and challenging to create. Ive always loved history and being able to paint landmark bottles of wine lets me tell their story in and a new way in my art.
Painting such a famous bottle of wine, such as this 1947 Petrus ,was a great thrill! I love the detail in the label and tried to capture a moment of someone who was lucky enough to experience a bottle.

The 1947 Petrus is one of the great vintages of the 20th century surpassing, in the view of many experts, the equally celebrated 1961. The 1947 vintage was a difficult time to produce being so soon after the end of the Second World War. It was a time when many winery workers had died in battle olupostilities. s it wasn't possible to purchase new barrels or other equipment. Nonetheless, all the first growths made superlative wines in 1945 , and Pétrus was their equal.
